Since I grew up in Denham Springs, I may be slightly biased, but it really is a great area to raise a family! Lots of great schools, really nice parks (especially North Park/PARDS), lots of options whether you are looking to live in a subdivision or perhaps in a more rural area. There is a small, quaint antique district near Denham Springs High School as well as a brand new development on Juban Rd that features shopping, restaurants, a Movie Tavern, and is still continuing to grow. One drawback to this area is the traffic going to/from the Baton Rouge area during peak times which is a growing pain a lot of suburbs naturally face. Overall, it is a community full of good people who are still rebuilding after the flood last year, which has actually drawn this already tight knit community even closer together! less

DENHAM SPRINGS - The City of Denham Springs may look different in 2017, but it will be the same city it was before the August flood, Mayor Gerard Landry said Thursday. He and his City Council also face the uncertainty of how many displaced residents will return. The city faces the challenges of keeping in the black the city budget -- driven largely by sales tax -- while numerous businesses remain closed in the wake of the flood. Landry said he will take an optimistic approach toward the next year as the city continues the rebuilding process from the worst flood to strike Livingston Parish in more than 100 years. "I'm always an optimist and I firmly believe you have to be optimistic about the future so it turns out that way," he said.
